Terms & concepts
- Community – These slides use “community” to define residents of the region outside of people who would be considered “stakeholders” in the region’s economic development or industry cluster activities.
- IP – Intellectual property (IP) refers to inventions and other original creations, including patents, copyright, and trade secrets. Sources of IP related to industry clusters often include member businesses (particularly those investing in research), institutions of higher education, and other public or nonprofit labs.
- Stakeholder – These slides use economic development and industry stakeholders in reference to anyone who works for a business, organization, or institution in these fields, is a direct client or supplier of one of these entities, or someone who funds or sets policy for one of these entities.
